Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern
Certified Rape Crisis Counselor
“Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase – just take the first step.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dealing with life’s emotional challenges can leave us feeling overwhelmed and confused. Deciding to go to counseling is often the first step in facing these challenges. Counseling provides a safe and compassionate place to gain new perspective, answer difficult questions, and resolve painful conflicts. I am committed to providing knowledgeable and supportive therapy in a non-judgmental and confidential environment. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Florida, and am a Florida State Certified Rape Crisis Counselor.
My areas of focus include sexual trauma (both rape and childhood molestation), gender issues, relationship issues (including domestic violence), family of origin issues, depression, anxiety, PTSD, borderline personality disorder, adolescents, grief and loss, illness, self esteem, and personal growth.
My approach to therapy is personalized and integrative. I adjust the treatment and techniques, based on the client’s individual goals and therapeutic needs. I have been known to utilize a number of clinical approaches including: Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Interpersonal Process, Cognitive-Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Existentialism, and Mindfulness.
I understand that the first step can be the most difficult. Please feel free to contact me for a free consultation either by phone (407.701.4230) or e-mail (dominiquebarritt@gmail.com).
